Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly keen on signing Marco Asensio from Real Madrid in the summer transfer window.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Marco Asensio is the subject of interest from AC Milan over a move in the summer transfer window. The Serie A giants are hoping that their good relations with Real Madrid will help them land the Spanish attacker.
Marco Asensio is enjoying one of his best phases as a Real Madrid player, having put a difficult start to the season behind him to become a key figure for Los Blancos. The 26-year-old is Real Madrid’s third-highest scorer in the ongoing campaign behind Karim Benzema and Vinicius Jr.
The Spanish international has a solid tally of nine goals and one assist in 29 appearances across all competitions this term. But Asensio is in the final 18 months of his current contract, with Real Madrid eager to tie him down to a new contract. The precarious situation has caught the attention of AC Milan.
The Serie A giants share a healthy working relationship with Real Madrid, having signed Brahim Diaz from the Spanish club. And AC Milan will target Asensio next, with adding a solid option on the right flank an urgent need for them following the inconsistencies of Samu Castillejo and Junior Messias.
While Alexis Saelemaekers has shown some promise, Asensio will be an upgrade on the Belgian attacker, making him a viable target for AC Milan. But Real Madrid’s preference is to tie the 26-year-old to a new contract, and they are set to discuss a new deal with the Spaniard.
Recent reports have also claimed that Asensio is ready to stay put at Real Madrid by snubbing his prospective suitors. But with Los Blancos targetting a Bosman move for Kylian Mbappe, Asensio will have a big decision to make in the summer transfer window, keeping AC Milan and other interested parties in the picture.
Apart from the Rossoneri, Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and fellow Serie A giants Juventus are also keen on signing Asensio. So, an intriguing summer transfer window beckons for Asensio, and it will be interesting to see if he remains committed to Real Madrid.
