Barcelona and Real Madrid are reportedly among the clubs to have tabled offers to Erling Haaland over a possible big-money summer move.
According to a report by Spanish outlet Cadena SER, Erling Haaland has offers on his table from five high profile European clubs. Barcelona, Real Madrid, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich have all submitted their respective proposals to land the Borussia Dortmund goal machine.
Erling Haaland has taken no time to establish himself as one of the best strikers in Europe, having gone from strength to strength since his breakthrough campaign with Red Bull Salzburg in 2019/20. The Norwegian striker joined Borussia Dortmund in January 2020 and has become a goal machine in the last two years.
The 21-year-old has again been incredible in the ongoing campaign, with 23 goals and six assists in 20 appearances for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions. But injuries have blighted Haaland this term, putting the Bundesliga giants in a spot of bother in the final third. Furthermore, the player’s precarious situation amid interest from European bigwigs like Barcelona and Real Madrid adds to Dortmund’s troubles.
Both Barcelona and Real Madrid have recently intensified talks with Haaland’s camp and could be set to launch the offensive for him. The two La Liga heavyweights have in-form but ageing strikers leading the line for them and will need to phase them out sooner or later, thereby necessitating Haaland’s arrival.
The 21-year-old has thus become a priority target for Barcelona and Real Madrid, although recent reports have claimed that the Merengues are the front-runners in pursuit of the Norwegian goal machine. And now, Barcelona and Real Madrid have submitted their proposals to Haaland.
In addition to the two Spanish giants, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and Bayern Munich have also tabled their offers to the Dortmund striker. And according to Real Madrid, Manchester City might be leading the race to prise him away from the Bundesliga club, which is surprising as recent reports claimed that the Citizens had cooled their interest in him.
But it looks like a five-horse race could be on the cards in the race to sign Haaland, with Real Madrid keen on bringing him to the Santiago Bernabeu in 2023 instead of this coming summer. As for Barcelona, the Blaugrana could be well-served with pursuing Haaland this year, their financial situation permitting.
