Manchester United completed a scintillating turnaround from being two goals down to defeat Newcastle United 3-2 at Old Trafford on Saturday.
Manchester United came into the game under intense pressure, with reports of Jose Mourinho’s impending sack dominating the headlines. And things were off to the worst possible start for the Red Devils, with Kenedy and Yoshinori Muto finding the back of the net within ten minutes from kick off.
However, Manchester United mounted an spirited comeback after the break, with substitute Juan Mata pulling one back with a sensational free-kick in the 70th minute, before Anthony Martial found the back of the net six minutes later to reinstate parity.
United pressed on in search of a winner from thereon and it finally came in the stoppage time, when Alexis Sanchez headed home an Ashley Young cross to send Old Trafford into a meltdown. With the win, the Red Devils brought an end to a four-match run without a victory. Here are some of the best reactions on social media to United’s sensational comeback;
I just shed a tear. What kind of love do i have for @ManUtd like this?

Remove the shackles and let those Manchester United players express themselves. It's the only way.

Finally a bit of hunger from Manchester United. Amazing what can happen when you play in a positive manner and on the front foot.

This is what happens when you attack at OT.
Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Alexis Sanchez carry United to a win. Why don’t we do this every week. Jose always does this. Just play Bailly, Dalot, Fred and involve Andreas.
I still think it’s too late but that’s Manchester United. pic.twitter.com/iNWakG9YPx

The fans took to social media to show their support to Mourinho following their victory, while a number of them were instead calling for the club to sack chief executive Ed Woodward.
Loved everything about that second half. That is the Manchester United I want to see every week. Win, lose or draw. Desire and heart is all I want. I love this football club. Jose Mourinho red and white army. #MUFC #MUFCvNUFC

Great win for us. One serious note:
“Mourinho is a winner, Woodward is a loser.”
Goodnight.

Mourinho was never the problem of this team. He has always wanted a team that plays from the back. Pogba played from the back and see how the game changed. We need a defender that plays like that. Woodward is one person that should be criticized more. #BbcFootball

Dear José Mourinho, behave like how a man should. The press will try and get under your skin. Woodward will. But don’t give in. Don’t pick on the younger players. Build strong relationships.
