The contest between Manchester United and Liverpool hardly lived up to the billing, as injuries grabbed the headlines in a goalless stalemate.
Liverpool moved to the top of the Premier League table, as they came away with a solitary point against arch rivals Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. Billed as the biggest game of the weekend, it failed to live up to the expectations as both Manchester United and Liverpool struggled to create a lot of opportunities in the final third.
Bizarrely it was injuries that took the spotlight on Sunday as the first-half saw as many as four substitutions between the two teams, with the home team having to use up all three changes. Ander Herrera and Juan Mata came off for Andreas Pereira and Jesse Lingard, before the latter also was taken off for Alexis Sanchez, while Roberto Firmino was replaced by Daniel Sturridge for Liverpool.
The second-half too, failed to take off as neither team were able to shift gears. While Liverpool would have been happy with a point before the game, they will see it as a missed opportunity after seeing United getting hampered by injuries. The Red Devils, on the other hand, did well to keep their shape and discipline in spite of all the disruptions to hold on for a point.
Here’s how the fans reacted to a rather dull draw at Old Trafford on the day.
I would like to applaud Man UTD for the tremendous effort the players are putting in to still secure the match even after utilising full subs. Their determination ??? beyond words #MUNLIV

Mohamed Salah endured a disappointing game as he was very well marshaled by Luke Shaw and Victor Lindelof. The Egyptian hardly got into the game and Manchester United fans did not let go of the opportunity to mock Liverpool’s leading goalscorer of the season on social media.
Just a reminder. This supposedly best forward in the league still hasn't scored or even assisted against us. Salahmaooooo. #mufc #munliv #salah pic.twitter.com/jnN3egAUiO

So….another game against @ManUtd and another game where Mo Salah goes missing….out of Ashley Youngs pocket and into Luke Shaws.
Happy with a point, some fantastic performances today.

I’m surprised Luke Shaw didn’t injure his hamstring as well, considering Salah was in his pocket the entire game? #MUNLIV
