Fernando Torres heaps praise on Mohamed Salah

Fernando Torres is the latest former Liverpool star to heap praise on Mohamed Salah, stating the Egyptian has taken the entire team to another level.

This season, Mohamed Salah’s name has been spoken in the same breath as Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi following some scintillating performances. The Egyptian forward has played an immense role in keeping Liverpool in the hunt for the Premier League title while helping them qualify for the next round of the UEFA Champions League.

Salah has already scored 15 goals and provided six assists across competitions in just 14 appearances this term. His current form has already prompted many to tip the Egyptian to win the Ballon d’Or this year. His hat-trick against Manchester United at Old Trafford marked the 10th consecutive game he had scored in, although he has not found the net in two games since.

However, Salah’s stature was the least bit diminished due to those results as he continues to be the most in-form star across Europe. Despite the Egyptian’s wish to prolong his career at Anfield, there is an ongoing situation with his contract.

While Salah is tipped to stay put and extend his stay, he has also been asked to snub the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid in favour of staying at Liverpool. The Egyptian continues to focus his efforts on the playing turf, and there is plenty more expected from him this season.

Fernando Torres has become the latest to heap praise on Salah, suggesting the Egyptian has helped the entire team reach another level. The former Liverpool star spoke to Liverpool’s official website in the build-up to the game at Anfield against Atletico Madrid in midweek. Transfer Market Web posted those comments from the former striker, as he praised the in-form Egyptian.

Torres said, “Did he bring the team on a whole other level? One hundred per cent. I think not only this year but the last two or three seasons have also been amazing. You’re always talking about individual trophies for players when they win trophies at the same time, but I think he has been one of the best two or three players in the world in the past five or six years. It’s amazing, the consistency.”

“You can see he breaks all the records and keeps scoring goals. We chat sometimes, and I’m really happy for him because I saw him when he came to England – it was difficult at the beginning, but he is a great guy, and a great player and he is showing the world.”

Whether Salah wins the Ballon d’Or remains to be seen. As far as matters on the pitch are concerned, there is very little stopping the Egyptian and he will be raring to continue making the difference for Liverpool as the season progresses.
