Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly in contention to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who fancies a move to the French capital.
French football journalist Hadrien Grenier has offered an interesting update on Marcus Rashford. The Manchester United forward has apparently maintained contact with Paris Saint-Germain regarding a potential move to Parc des Princes next summer. The Ligue 1 giants fancy the English forward as an ideal replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who is seemingly destined for a move to Real Madrid.
Rashford was linked with a move to PSG even in the summer transfer window, with the player himself reportedly open to a move to the French capital.
Widely regarded as one of the best attackers at Manchester United, Rashford has been a key performer for the club for several years now. Since his breakthrough in the 2015/16 campaign, the forward has notched up 288 competitive appearances for Manchester United, scoring 93 goals while providing 57 assists.
While the 24-year-old has consistently managed to provide the goods in the final third, he has endured a rather disappointing patch of form over the past six months. The attacker’s development was marred by a shoulder injury at the start of the new season, keeping him on the sidelines for three months.
The addition of Cristiano Ronaldo has seen Rashford struggle to establish himself as the main attacker for Manchester United. He has scored four goals in 13 league matches this term, failing to maintain his consistency at the highest level of football.
PSG are looking to take advantage of Rashford’s recent struggles by launching a move after the end of the season. As mentioned earlier, the French giants are in the market for a top-class forward next season as Kylian Mbappe looks set to depart Parc des Princes in favour of a move to Real Madrid.
PSG have been linked with a move for Cristiano Ronaldo as a potential replacement for Mbappe. However, Rashford could prove to be a more logical option given his age profile and the undisputed potential to become one of the very best in Europe. At the age of just 24, the Manchester United frontman has time on his side and has no shortage of experience at the highest level of football.
It could make him a sensible long-term investment for PSG, as they look to form a new-look frontline next season, led by none other than Lionel Messi. In the meantime, Les Parisiens are reportedly closing in on the capture of Tanguy Ndombele, with the Tottenham midfielder set to join the club on a short-term loan deal until the end of the season.
