Newcastle United are reportedly exploring the idea of signing Paul Pogba, who looks destined to leave Manchester United.
According to Fichajes, Paul Pogba could be a marquee target for Newcastle United in the summer, as the French midfielder looks certain to leave Manchester United on a free transfer.
Paul Pogba could become one of the hottest transfer commodities next summer when his contract with Manchester United expires. There has been no movement between the club and player over extending his deal, which has prompted speculation over a potential departure on a free transfer after June 2022.
Agent Mino Raiola has been looking for an exit out of Manchester United for quite some time, with the midfielder on the wishlist of some top clubs in the previous windows. However, after he started the season by recording four assists in the opening game, he looked destined to stay at Old Trafford beyond the current season.
But a major dip in form coincided with the team’s wretched run of results as some disappointing defeats dented their confidence. Having injured himself in training while on France duty during the last international break, the midfielder has not played a game since and could return sometime this month.
Real Madrid were the early contenders to sign him on a free transfer, although Pogba’s huge salary demand and agent commissions could scupper a move. Florentino Perez might look at other younger alternatives to the World Cup winner. Juventus have also shown a keen interest in re-signing him since letting him go on a then world-record deal to Manchester United.
The Italians are prepared to get creative in their quest to convince the Premier League side over a January sale, although it does seem that Pogba could be leaving only at the end of the season.
Newcastle United are the latest entrants for his signature as the cash-rich Magpies eye Pogba as a potential marquee signing for next summer. Following the mega-money takeover, the Magpies have huge ambitions for the summer transfer window, as indicated by the links to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, with Pogba the latest addition to the list of elite additions that they want to make.
They are staying away from making marquee signings in the January window as they focus on bringing in defenders and midfielders to protect their Premier League status. Newcastle could be set for a huge summer overhaul if they avoid relegation as many top-rated stars could arrive.
Pogba could become a potential target for Newcastle and they could convince Raiola to facilitate a lucrative move up north. Depending on their Premier League status and the quality of incoming players next summer, the Magpies could surely emerge as an option to sign the Frenchman.
