Jesus Vallejo has reportedly been offered to Newcastle United by Real Madrid over a possible move in the January transfer window.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Jesus Vallejo is one of four Real Madrid players on offer for Newcastle United to sign in the January transfer window. The Magpies have a war-chest of transfer budget this winter, and a Real Madrid player could be on his way to St. James’ Park next month.
Jesus Vallejo was widely regarded as one of the most promising young defenders in Spain when he joined Real Madrid while still in his teens back in July 2015. However, the transfer has not worked out one bit for the 24-year-old, who has been a bit-part player for whenever he is not out on loan to another club.
After a bright loan stint with Granada, Vallejo would have hoped to rake in some minutes this term, especially after Real Madrid decided to bring in just one defender after offloading Sergio Ramos and Raphael Varane. However, that has not been the case for the Spanish defender, who has managed only 10 minutes of action this season.
With his Real Madrid career going nowhere, Vallejo has been offered to several clubs, including Villarreal, albeit unsuccessfully so for the most part. Now, though, the Spanish giants have offered his services to Newcastle United.
According to El Nacional, the Magpies have a transfer budget of over €300 million reserved specifically for the January transfer window. So, after sensing an opportunity to offload some of their unwanted stars, Real Madrid have offered four players to Newcastle United, including Vallejo.
For their part, the Tyneside giants are weighing up the possibility of signing each of the players on offer, with a move for Eden Hazard also on the cards. As far as Vallejo is concerned, the 24-year-old could resurrect a stuttering career at St. James’ Park, with the Magpies in need of a new central defender in the January transfer window.
With Newcastle responding favourably to the offer from Real Madrid, it remains to be seen if Vallejo’s next destination is Newcastle United. With Isco, Hazard and Mariano Diaz also on the table, it will be interesting to see if any other Real Madrid player joins Vallejo at Newcastle.
