A resurgent West Ham United will reportedly look to trump Liverpool to the signing of Slavia Prague sensation Adam Hlozek
According to Football Insider, West Ham United are working to beat Premier League giants Liverpool to the signing of standout Slavia Prague performer Adam Hlozek in the January transfer window.
The Hammers are enjoying a sensational season and find themselves in the fourth spot in the Premier League after 12 games played. They are also top of their UEFA Europa League group and produced an impressive performance to beat Liverpool earlier in the month.
This time in the transfer market, West Ham will now be aiming to repeat the trick against the Merseysiders. The east Londoners have enjoyed success in their previous raids on the Czech market for Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal. Whether a hat-trick is on the cards remains to be seen.
Just 19, Hlozek is quickly establishing himself as a player to watch out for. Capable of playing anywhere along the frontline, the Czech international can strike it big. He has so far scored four goals and assisted eight more in 21 appearances for Slavia this season.
West Ham have been largely dependent on Michail Antonio for goals this season. The Jamaican leads both the club’s scoring and assist charts in the ongoing campaign. While Said Benrahma has also stepped up, adding another offensive threat in Hlozek will give the Hammers attack more bite.
The Londoners are in the market for a new number nine who can develop in the years to come. To that end, West Ham look set to intensify their pursuit of the 19-year-old when the January transfer window opens on New Year’s day.
Liverpool, for their part, are also in need of adding to their frontline. While the front three of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are in their prime, they are not getting any younger. Diogo Jota looks to be an astute purchase, but Divock Origi is not reliable when it comes to coming off the bench to turn a game on its head.
In Hlozek, Jurgen Klopp can have an excellent prospect he can mould into an ace striker. The Liverpool boss did the same with Robert Lewandowski and has a reputation for getting the best out of youngsters. West Ham can certainly steal a match on the Reds should they act fast.
West Ham are clearly a team on the rise. Making key additions in the transfer window could help them build upon their success so far. So, stealing one of Europe’s top talents from under Liverpool’s nose will certainly be a step in the right direction.
