Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly joined Real Madrid, Liverpool and others in the race to sign Karim Adeyemi.
According to a report by Sky Sport Germany, the race to sign Karim Adeyemi continues to heat up with each passing day. Paris Saint-Germain are the latest club to be showing an interest in the Red Bull Salzburg striker, who is also being courted by Real Madrid and Liverpool, among others.
Karim Adeyemi has become one of the most sought-after players in the transfer market on the back of a stunning start to the 2021/22 season. In 18 games across all competitions, the 19-year-old has garnered an impressive tally of 14 goals and two assists.
In addition, Adeyemi has also made an impression in international football, scoring on his debut for Germany against Armenia last month. His progress has not gone unnoticed either, with the who’s who of European football starting to register their interest in the young striker. And PSG are the latest club to become a prospective suitor, joining Real Madrid, Liverpool and others in his chase.
The interest from Real Madrid is understandable, considering Luka Jovic and Mariano Diaz look set to become surplus to requirements sooner rather than later. With Karim Benzema approaching the final phase of his career, it is imperative that Los Blancos lay down a succession plan for him, and Adeyemi could feature in such a plan.
The 19-year-old could initially arrive as an understudy to Benzema before potentially taking over as the first-choice striker for Real Madrid. As for Liverpool, Adeyemi could initially come in as a replacement for Divock Origi, a bit-part player at Anfield and touted for an exit from the club.
Eventually, though, Adeyemi is likely to become Roberto Firmino’s successor, if signed, with the Brazilian international now in his thirties. Hence, the eagerness to sign the German international is understandable. Real Madrid and Liverpool are now facing stiff competition from PSG in pursuit of the teenage prodigy.
The Ligue 1 heavyweights are eyeing Adeyemi as a long-term replacement for Kylian Mbappe, who has been heavily linked with Real Madrid for months now. And with Mauro Icardi also facing an uncertain future at Parc des Princes, Adeyemi could be just the kind of player who could become a long-term solution in attack for PSG.
Apart from Real Madrid, Liverpool and PSG, the likes of Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund, and Atletico Madrid are also hot on the trails of the 19-year-old. Therefore, it looks like an all-out transfer battle could be set up for the services of Adeyemi, possibly next summer.
