Borussia Dortmund have slapped a €130 million price-tag on English whizkid Jude Bellingham, a target for Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
According to a recent report from Fichajes, Borussia Dortmund have unleashed a price-tag on Jude Bellingham in order to fend off interest from top clubs across Europe. The 18-year-old midfielder has been a target for top dogs of England, in particular, including Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
However, interested parties will now have to shell out €130 million in order to acquire the services of the former Birmingham City starlet next season. Dortmund are aware of the fact that Bellingham is one of the hottest prospects in world football and has a contract that doesn’t expire until 2025.
Liverpool were linked with a €100 million swoop for the English whizkid earlier this season, but it appears that won’t be enough to lure him back to his home country. Bellingham is already enjoying life in Germany and is attracted by the opportunities Dortmund are providing, including the regular involvement in the UEFA Champions League.
The 18-year-old has made good use of his opportunities as well, having established himself as a regular starter for the Black and Yellows. He is already closing in on 50 appearances in the Bundesliga while winning eight caps for the English national team. He is also one of the top candidates to win the Golden Boy Award this year, alongside other talented youngsters like Pedri, Jamal Musiala and Florian Wirtz.
Therefore, very few can blame Dortmund for the €130 million price tag that certainly rules out of contention. The Reds were scouting him as a potential long-term replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, but they now have to look elsewhere, perhaps even Milan, as Franck Kessie is reportedly a target for Jurgen Klopp.
Chelsea, meanwhile, were interested in Bellingham due to his box to box credentials that would have made him an ideal long-term replacement for N’Golo Kante. But they too are scouting for alternatives, including AS Monaco starlet Aurelien Tchouameni.
As for Manchester United, they were close to snapping up Bellingham last summer. But the youngster opted to join Dortmund and it appears unlikely that the Red Devils would lure him to Old Trafford anytime soon.
They were, after all, involved in a gruelling negotiation for Jadon Sancho last summer and the board will think twice being involving themselves in another long-running transfer saga with the BVB management.
