Kylian Mbappe is among the potential list of candidates identified as a perfect long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
According to a report from Fichajes, Kylian Mbappe has emerged as a potential target for Liverpool. The Paris Saint-Germain forward has been included in the list of five players who could be targeted as a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah.
The Egyptian international is currently one of the most in-form players in the world. But it appears the club is worried about his future at Anfield, with the winger’s current contract expiring in 2023. There has been no breakthrough when it comes to contract talks, even though club legends like Jamie Carragher has already urged the club to tie him down to a long term deal.
However, in case Liverpool do end up losing Salah in the summer, they have drawn up a list of five potential replacements, a list that includes Mbappe.
This is not the first time the Frenchman is being linked with a move to Anfield either. His electric pace, quality on the ball and predatory instincts in front of goal have made him an appealing target for Jurgen Klopp and his tactical philosophy that relies heavily on counter-attacks.
Mbappe does have a stellar record as well, having been involved in over 200 goals in 182 competitive appearances. He also has 19 goals for his country and has already won the FIFA World Cup as well as the UEFA Nations League.
His experience, coupled with his traits and winning mentality thus make him an ideal replacement for Salah at Anfield next season. However, Liverpool are set to face stiff competition from Real Madrid in the pursuit of Mbappe, who is set to leave PSG for a free transfer next summer.
The Spanish giants had almost made a breakthrough to sign Mbappe in the summer. But a move could not be materialised as the club wanted to keep hold of the Frenchman. But with his contract expiring at the end of the season, Real Madrid will be ready to pounce.
It should leave Liverpool devoid of a proper, proven attacker to replace Salah. But they do have other alternatives including Ousmane Dembele, Philippe Coutinho and Dusan Vlahovic among many others.
