Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly keen on signing Casemiro, who is valued at around €70 million by Real Madrid.
According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Casemiro appears to be facing an uncertain future at Real Madrid. Paris Saint-Germain are interested in signing the Brazilian midfielder, who is valued at around €70 million by the Spanish giants.
Casemiro has come a long way since joining Real Madrid from Sao Paulo. Initially signed on loan in January 2013, the player’s move was made permanent in the subsequent transfer window in the summer. And since returning from a season-long loan spell at FC Porto, the 29-year-old has not looked back, establishing himself as one of the best holding midfielders in the world.
To date, Casemiro has made 295 appearances for Real Madrid, chipping in with 30 goals and 25 assists in the process. However, as per El Nacional, it appears as if the Brazilian international’s future at the Santiago Bernabeu is not set in stone, with Paris Saint-Germain now emerging in his pursuit.
The interest from PSG is interesting, considering Mauricio Pochettino has a number of top class midfielders at his disposal. However, upon taking a closer look, the need for someone like Casemiro becomes clearer, as Ander Herrera and Idrissa Gueye are both well into their thirties.
In addition, Herrera has also been linked with a potential move to Barcelona, which then puts PSG in a spot of bother. To that end, Casemiro is a viable target for the Ligue 1 heavyweights, who will need to pay Real Madrid around €70 million to secure his services.
Real Madrid, on their part, appear to be planning for life after Casemiro, with Aurelien Tchouameni becoming a key target for them. Apart from the French prodigy, the Merengues have also been linked with Marcelo Brovozic, Franck Kessie and others in recent times.
Meanwhile, it will be interesting to see if the increasingly frosty relationship between PSG and Real Madrid stops Les Parisiens from signing Casemiro, even if they are ready to shell out €70 million. Indeed, sporting director Leonardo has regularly chastised Real Madrid for their supposedly illegal approaches for Kylian Mbappe. This will be a transfer story worth following closely.
