Liverpool are among the clubs interested in the services of Karim Adeyemi, who is set to leave RB Salzburg next summer.
According to a report from Sky Germany, the fate of Karim Adeyemi at RB Salzburg has already been decided. The forward is set to leave Austria next summer for a fee in the region of €35-40 million, putting multiple clubs are on alert.
Liverpool are among those who have expressed their desire to sign Adeyemi and have made multiple enquiries over his availability. The young German is also courted by Bundesliga’s top three clubs in Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, which is often considered as the “big brother” of Salzburg.
Formerly of Unterhaching youth academy, Adeyemi has enjoyed immense success since joining Salzburg in 2018. While he had initially made his professional breakthrough at FC Liefering, the youngster has performed at a different level at RB Salzburg, notably being involved in 16 league goals last term.
This time around, Adeyemi is seemingly exceeding all competitions. In just ten league games, he has netted eight goals while being involved in three goals in just UEFA Champions League matches. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed either, Liverpool now scouting him as a potential replacement for Roberto Firmino.
The Brazilian international has endured a steady decline in recent years, and his future at Anfield remains uncertain. He was linked with a potential exit earlier in the summer, but for now, the club’s immediate focus is to sign an alternative.
Adeyemi fits the bill perfectly due to his versatile style of play that often sees him interchange positions with attacking players. It should bode well for attackers like Mohamed Salah and Diogo Jota as they often like to move in centrally to score goals.
However, the Reds are exploring other options as well, including a more traditional centre forward in Victor Osimhen. The Napoli forward has enjoyed a stellar start to the new season, thus attracting the attention of a host of clubs across Europe.
That said, Adeyemi could be significantly at just €35-40 million. He is not the only Salzburg player to be linked with a move to Liverpool either, with the Merseyside giants also reportedly in the market for Benjamin Sesko, another tall centre forward who is making his presence felt in Austria.
Borussia Dortmund had gotten extremely lucky last time out, with the capture of Erling Haaland for just over €20 million. It now remains to be seen whether Liverpool can replicate the same level of success, though it is arguable if either Adeyemi or Sesko have the same ceiling as the Norwegian wunderkind.
