Transfer News: Mino Raiola pushing Paul Pogba to join Real Madrid

Real Madrid have reportedly been handed a boost in pursuit of Paul Pogba, with Mino Raiola set to push the Manchester United midfielder to join Los Blancos.

According to a report by Catalan outlet El Nacional, Mino Raiola is keen on taking Paul Pogba to Real Madrid. The Manchester United midfielder is eager to make his way to La Liga if and when he calls it quits at Old Trafford, with Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain also linked with him.

Pogba rejoined Manchester United from Juventus in the summer of 2016 following a four-year stint with the Bianconeri. And the Frenchman’s second coming at Old Trafford has been a topsy turvy ride, experiencing the highest of highs and some plundering lows. However, when at his best, he tends to be the best performer for Manchester United.

To date, Pogba has made 215 appearances for the Premier League heavyweights, chipping in with 38 goals and 49 assists in the process. However, Manchester United are in a precarious position over the long-term future of the 28-year-old, who is in the final year of his deal with the club. Such a situation has piqued the interest of some of the biggest clubs in the world, with Real Madrid a potential destination.

Real Madrid hold a long-standing interest in Pogba, having been in his pursuit for quite a few years now. The interest has not waned much despite his performances at Manchester United, with Los Blancos now plotting a Bosman move for the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner.

Of late, there have been suggestions that Real Madrid could turn their attention elsewhere, with another Manchester United midfielder in Donny van de Beek likely to be offered to the Merengues. As for Pogba himself, his agent Mino Raiola is eager to push him towards a move to Real Madrid.

The Spanish giants do appear to be in need of signing a midfielder despite the arrival of Eduardo Camavinga in the summer. That is because Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are well into their thirties, meaning a succession plan for the veteran duo is imperative on Real Madrid’s part.

Real Madrid, though, are not alone in pursuit of Pogba, with the likes of Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus also being linked with him. Having said that, it remains to be seen if Real Madrid make Raiola’s stance on Pogba’s future count and if he does end up leaving Manchester United as a free agent.
