Leeds United are prepared to monitor Arnaut Danjuma’s development at Villarreal after being impressed by his performance against Manchester United.
According to Football Insider, Leeds United have sent scouts to keep an eye on Arnaut Danjuma following his heroics in the UEFA Champions League. It appears the Whites are scouring the market for potential offensive reinforcements in the upcoming January transfer window, with the Villarreal forward emerging as one of the options.
Danjuma had made his first impression in the Champions League opener against Atalanta, scoring in the entertaining 2-2 draw. He then went on to star in the Manchester United game, producing a man of the match performance despite ending up on the losing side thanks to a late Cristiano Ronaldo winner.
The forward’s exploits in these early parts of the campaign has already left Liverpool impressed. The Reds are scouting the former Bournemouth star, who has had tremendous success since moving to Spain in the summer.
Indeed, the Dutchman has been involved in four goals in just seven competitive matches for Villarreal. It is not a bad return for a player who was involved in as many as 22 goals in the Championship last season, though he was not able to help Bournemouth secure a return to the top-flight, with his team losing to Brentford in the promotion playoff.
Nevertheless, Danjuma has already shown his pedigree at the highest level of football, putting Leeds United on alert. The Whites are unsurprisingly in the market for a new attacker after a disastrous start to the campaign that has seen them fail to register a single win in the opening six matches.
Their main attackers in Jack Harrison, Patrick Bamford and new signing Daniel James have grossly underperformed so far. With just six goals in six matches, they are now ready to enter the market for a new attacker who can add more quality in the final third.
The Yorkshire outfit has been linked with a move for Arsenal target Noa Lang. But Danjuma represents a better experience as the 24-year-old has already had his stint in the Premier League as well as La Liga. But at the same time, he could be a difficult target, having only joined Villarreal in the summer while Liverpool are among the clubs interested in his services.
A move to Elland Road, therefore, appears to be unlikely for Arnaut Danjuma at the moment, even though the forward will be attracted by the fact that the club can offer regular first-team football.
