Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly readying a £30 million bid for Fiorentina wonderkid Dusan Vlahovic, who continues to rack up the goals in Serie A.
According to Turkish journalist, Ekram Konur, Premier League heavy hitters Tottenham Hotspur are preparing a bid for Fiorentina wonderkid Dusan Vlahovic.
Spurs were heavily linked with a move for the Viola star following uncertainty regarding Harry Kane’s future at the club. The English striker is still at Tottenham, but the North Londoners appear to be preparing for the worst. In Vlahovic, they will be landing themselves an extremely promising striker who has taken his game up a notch.
The 21-year-old scored 21 goals for Fiorentina in Serie A last season, a tally only bettered by Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Luis Muriel. He was the shining light for Fiorentina in what was an extremely poor season. Vlahovic has carried over his fine form into the current campaign, netting five goals in his first six appearances.
It should silence naysayers who might have labelled the Serbian striker a one-season wonder. It would appear he is here to stay. An indispensable player for Fiorentina, Vlahovic was involved in 23 of their 47 goals last season.
With two years left on his current deal, Fiorentina’s grip on negotiations will only get weaker if the 21-year-old fails to pen an extension. This will be good news for Tottenham, who are readying a £30 million bid for the player’s services.
Not only is the Serb excellent in the air, but also a clinical finisher who knows where the back of the net is located. With or without Kane, his addition will amplify the Spurs attack for the upcoming decade. Despite the promise, the youngster still has several kinks to shave off his game. His hold up play could do with a few improvements while the passing leaves much to be desired.
Vlahovic certainly has his flaws but could emerge into a leading striker in the future. Spurs will do well to beat the rush and land the player before he reaches his peak. Vlahovic’s best years are ahead of him, and should their offer be accepted; Tottenham could very well land themselves a real gem for a rather reasonable price.
Fiorentina, however, remain locked in negotiations regarding a new contract, and there is optimism that an agreement can be found. The 21-year-old accepting an offer will undoubtedly weaken Spurs’ position when it comes to negotiations. Tottenham have raided Serie A in recent months and do not appear to be looking elsewhere anytime soon.
They will, however, not find it smooth sailing in their pursuit of Vlahovic. Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Borussia Dortmund are all keeping tabs on the Serbian and could make their moves next summer. Vlahovic is certainly a player to watch out for and could become a familiar name to football fans in the coming years. Where exactly his future lies remains to be seen.
