Liverpool are in pole position in the race to sign Red Bull Salzburg’s emerging star Karim Adeyemi, who is also courted by FC Barcelona.
According to Mundo Deportivo, Liverpool are leading Barcelona in the race to sign Karim Adeyemi. Jurgen Klopp is constantly tracking the progress of the Red Bull Salzburg attacker and is weighing up a move in the next transfer window, as they look to continue their hunt for attacking reinforcements.
Barcelona are the other club interested in the services of Adeyemi while two Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are tracking the youngster as well. But the report makes clear that Liverpool are in pole position and a potential move to Anfield could be on the cards for the exciting German forward, in the upcoming January transfer window.
The Reds have experience of doing business with RB Salzburg, having secured the services of Takumi Minamino last year. Both Naby Keita and Sadio Mane are ex-Salzburg graduates as well, and it is apparent that players stemming from the Red Bull brand of football tend to fit in easily with Klopp’s tactical philosophy at Liverpool.
The German tactician is hoping to have similar success with Adeyemi. The youngster has already turned many heads with his blazing performances in the Austrian Bundesliga, notably netting six goals in seven appearances in the ongoing campaign.
After Erling Haaland, Hwang hee-Chan and Patson Daka, the former Bayern youth prospect is tipped to become the next attacking sensation to come out of Salzburg.
At Anfield, Adeyemi is likely being viewed as a potential alternative for Roberto Firmino, who has struggled with a lack of productivity. Moreover, the recent injury of Harvey Elliott has forced accentuated the need for a new attacker, with Liverpool also being linked with a move for Amine Gouiri recently.
Liverpool’s apparent interest in Adeyemi might not bode well for Barcelona, though, with the Catalans also scouring the market for a young and cost-effective option to spice up the attacking department that has had to deal with the summer exit of Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann.
Dani Olmo has been earmarked as an option, but the RB Leipzig superstar is going to cost a fortune while Manchester United have reportedly joined the race as well. Hence, it will be interesting to see if the Blaugrana focus on the pursuit of Adeyemi in January and give Liverpool a real run for their money.
