Real Madrid are reportedly plotting a mega double swoop to sign Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe in next summer’s transfer window.
According to a report by MARCA, Real Madrid are ready to end their attacking woes by making two big signings in next summer’s transfer window. The Spanish giants are lining up a double swoop that would see them land Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland, in a “two for the price of one” acquisition.
By now, it is an open secret that Real Madrid are desperate to sign Kylian Mbappe. The Merengues tried their utmost to sign the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner in the summer transfer window that slammed shut only recently. However, despite their best efforts, a mega money deal could not be hashed out with Paris Saint-Germain.
However, with Mbappe now in the final year of his contract with PSG, Real Madrid are hopeful of securing his services on a free transfer next summer. In fact, Los Blancos are aiming to reach a pre-contract agreement with the 22-year-old at the turn of the year, when he will be able to negotiate terms with foreign clubs.
Mbappe, though, is not the only big-name forward that Real Madrid are eyeing for a possible swoop next summer, with Erling Haaland still very much on their radar. And as per the report, Real Madrid have set their firm attention on “creating a new Galactico strikeforce” by pairing Mbappe with Haaland next season.
Haaland, like Mbappe half a decade ago at AS Monaco, has become one of the hottest properties in the transfer market since his breakthrough campaign with Red Bull Salzburg in 2019/20. Since then, he has joined Borussia Dortmund, where he has only gone from strength to strength.
Real Madrid have been keen on signing Haaland for quite some time now as a long-term successor for Karim Benzema. However, their precarious financial situation has forced them to wait until 2022, with reports claiming that they even have a pre-agreement with him for next summer.
As per MARCA, Real Madrid are hoping to bring both Mbappe and Haaland to the Spanish capital next summer in what will be a “two for the price of one” swoop, seeing as Mbappe will possibly arrive on a free transfer. What now remains to be seen is if the Merengues make any progress in the duo’s pursuit in the coming months before possibly signing them next summer.
