Ademola Lookman has reportedly emerged as the latest target for Crystal Palace with Patrick Vieira eyeing further attacking reinforcements.
According to Sky Sports, Crystal Palace are eyeing up three potential players to further improve their ranks in the offensive department. One of the three attackers is Ademola Lookman who is currently employed by RB Leipzig. Palace are aware of the fact that the 23-year-old attacker is not wanted in east Germany, potentially paving the way for them to seal his services for a cut price.
Lookman played the most recent season on loan at Fulham. After failing to make an impact at Everton or Leipzig, it was an excellent opportunity for the English winger to showcase his talents in the Premier League. The forward had a fairly decent season as well, with four goals and four assists in 34 matches.
He was an ever-present figure in Fulham’s attacking setup, offering pace and tenacity going forward. However, it was not enough to save the Cottagers from the wrath of relegation, with the 23-year-old eventually returning to Leipzig.
Crystal Palace, though, are now ready to offer him another chance to impress in England as the Londoners prepare for life without Wilfried Zaha. The former Manchester United attacker has not exactly been the hottest topic in the English market this summer, but his contract at Selhurst Park does expire in 2023.
It may force the Eagles to cash in on him this month, knowing they may have to be content with a significantly lower fee otherwise. As such, new Crystal Palace coach Patrick Vieira is preparing for the future by signing a new winger.
Lookman fits the bill perfectly, having showcased his talents at Fulham last season. The 23-year-old has a point to prove as well, having previously failed at Everton while his speedy nature of play should tune in well with Crystal Palace’s style of play.
However, the Leipzig attacker is not the only option for Palace, who are, in fact, closing in on the capture of Reiss Nelson. The Arsenal prodigy may not bring more experience to the table, but it appears Vieira rates him highly due to his performances at Hoffenheim.
There is no secret that the Eagles have the capacity of loaning two players in this summer transfer window. Having already brought in Leeds United target Conor Gallagher, Nelson appears to be an ideal fit for Crystal Palace, though Arnaut Danjuma and Ademola Lookman do remain potential options for the Londoners.
