Liverpool are reportedly vying with Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United in pursuit of Mikkel Damsgaard, valued at €35 million by Serie A outfit Sampdoria.
According to a report by Italian outlet Sportmediaset, the race to sign Mikkel Damsgaard in the summer transfer window appears to be intensifying by the day. The 21-year-old Danish forward is being courted by the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Leeds United, with Sampdoria asking for €35 million in exchange of his services.
Mikkel Damsgaard has taken little time to become a hot property in the transfer market. A relative unknown not too long ago, the youngster first burst onto the limelight after an impressive 2020/21 campaign with Sampdoria, despite only having a return of two goals and four assists in 37 outings across all competitions.
His stock, though, has skyrocketed on the back of a stunning UEFA Euro 2020 campaign with Denmark, wherein he played a key role in their run to the semi-finals. That has since piqued the interest of the who’s who of European football, with Liverpool, Leeds United and Tottenham among his suitors this summer.
The interest from Liverpool makes a world of sense amid uncertainties surrounding the future of Xherdan Shaqiri. With Divock Origi also possibly being on the exit trail, having a versatile forward like Damsgaard would work well for Jurgen Klopp, particularly when Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane become unavailable to take part at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Finally, Leeds are also in the market for an attacking reinforcement following Helder Costa’s struggles to adapt to the challenges of the Premier League last term. To that end, the Whites have been linked with a myriad of attacking players like Daniel James, Farid Boulaya and Marco Asensio with Damsgaard an option worth considering as well.
As for Tottenham, they are in a precarious situation over the future of Harry Kane while also having to deal with the inconsistencies of Lucas Moura and Steven Bergwijn. While Bryan Gil has arrived from Sevilla, another attacking addition could serve Spurs well, making Damsgaard a viable target.
The Danish international does have a sizable price-tag, though, with Sampdoria demanding €35 million in exchange of his services. Also, the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham and Leeds are not the only suitors for Damsgaard, although it will be interesting to see if they are all prepared to shell out around €35 million to land the 21-year-old this summer.
