Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly considering a summer move for 28-year-old Dutch international Wout Weghorst, with VfL Wolfsburg open to a sale.
According to a report by Daily Express, Tottenham are interested in signing Wout Weghorst from VfL Wolfsburg in the summer transfer window. A switch to the Premier League would be hugely appealing for the 28-year-old Dutch international, with Wolfsburg open to a sale as well if their valuation is met.
Wout Weghorst has established himself as one of the most consistent performers in the Bundesliga since joining VfL Wolfsburg from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2018. Over the last three years, the 28-year-old forward has been a pivotal figure for Die Wolfe and played a key role in earning them a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League.
So far at Wolfsburg, the Dutch international has a solid record of 63 goals and 21 assists in 120 appearances. His progress since arriving in Germany has surely not gone unnoticed, with several big-name clubs across Europe showing an interest in him. As for the ongoing summer transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur are keen on signing Weghorst.
Spurs are in a precarious position over the future of Harry Kane, who has been rumoured to be open to departing the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer. As a result, the England captain has been heavily linked with Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea, with a summer exit not out of the question.

Tottenham, on their part, are in the market for a striker this summer, although they are likely to sign one out-and-out centre-forward irrespective of what the future holds for Kane after choosing to not sign Carlos Vinicius permanently. To that end, Haris Seferovic is among the strikers to have been courted by the north Londoners, with Weghorst now emerging on Spurs’ radar.
As per Daily Express, a host of Premier League clubs apart from Tottenham are interested in the 28-year-old forward, who might not be averse to the idea of making the switch to England, even though he is happy to stay put at Wolfsburg this summer. However, Die Wolfe are open to selling Weghorst if they receive an acceptable offer.
For now, Weghorst is the latest striker to have popped up on the radar of the English giants and it remains to be seen if they end up launching the offensive for him. The Dutch international’s future will certainly be a prospect to look out for, as Tottenham weigh up a summer move.
