Manchester United are involved in talks with Rennes over a potential transfer for Eduardo Camavinga, expected to cost only €30 million.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has offered a promising update in Manchester United’s pursuit of Eduardo Camavinga. The English club are in talks with Rennes over a potential transfer, with negotiations progressing smoothly. Rennes are believed to be keen on offloading the midfielder for as low as €30 million amid fears over his contract that expires at the end of next season.
Manchester United are not the only interested party, though, with Paris Saint-Germain also involved in the chase. Earlier reports had even suggested that the youngster prefers remaining in France, but it appears the Red Devils have made some significant strides in the pursuit of Camavinga.
The player himself is now keen on making the next leap in his career following two successful seasons at Rennes. He has already notched up 82 competitive appearances for the Ligue 1 outfit, emerging as one of Europe’s brightest talents.
Camavinga’s excellent ball progression, technical prowess and ability to read the game have already made him a quality first-team star for Rennes. He could be seen as a potential upgrade for Fred at Manchester United, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer determined to add more competition in the midfield department.
The Norwegian tactician also has concerns over Nemanja Matic heading into the final stage of his career. It accentuates the need for reinforcements in the midfield department – making Camavinga a viable option for the club.
The Frenchman is not the only option for Manchester United, though, with the Premier League giants also being linked with a switch for Ruben Neves. He is also courted by Arsenal, although Wolves are holding out for a fee of €40 million.
The West Midlands giants have recently snapped up by Trincao on a season-long loan deal, as new coach Bruno Lage hopes to usher in a new era at Molineux.
In addition to midfielders, Manchester United are interested in signing a new defender. One of the players targeted by the Red Devils is Raphael Varane, who has reportedly agreed a five-year deal at Old Trafford.
The Frenchman could be a massive coup for a United side that has already confirmed the arrival of Jadon Sancho. The further addition of Camavinga could be the final piece of the jigsaw for Solskjaer, as his side attempts to mount a title challenge in the upcoming campaign.
