Wolves are ready to sell some of their star names, including Ruben Neves, to fund further transfers, with Arsenal and Manchester United interested.
According to 90 min, Wolves are pondering the sales of their star players to generate funds for transfers. The club informed new manager Bruno Lage that player sales are needed to fund further recruitment. The list includes Arsenal and Manchester United target, Ruben Neves.
After finishing in 13th place last season, Wolves must re-invigorate their playing squad and bring in new players. Following the departure of Nuno Espirito Santo, Wolves have appointed Bruno Lage, who might want a few additions. However, due to the adverse financial climate and the club’s condition, the signings may be varied.
The Midlands club have seen some of their star names depart in recent years, like Diogo Jota last summer. The pattern is set to continue as Wolves are ready to sell some more of their valuable assets to fellow Premier League sides. Massive financial losses in three of the last four seasons might be forcing their decision towards this outcome.
Among the names suggested so far, are Adama Traore and Ruben Neves. The interest in Traore might be widespread across Europe, but it is Ruben Neves who is piquing the interest of plenty of big Premier League sides this summer. The likes of Arsenal and Manchester United have shown an interest in the Portuguese international.
Neves has been at Wolves since 2017, starring in their promotion back to the top tier. Since establishing himself as a rising star in the Premier League, the interest from big clubs like Arsenal and Manchester United is unsurprising. However, it looks like he will finally get his big move this summer.
Arsenal are keen on signing Neves after it became clear their Granit Xhaka is all set to join AS Roma. The Swiss international will leave a void in their midfield, and Mikel Arteta is convinced Neves is the man to replace him. Wolves are demanding close to £40 million, but Arsenal will look to bring that number down.
Furthermore, there’s reported interest from Manchester United as well. United are waiting to sort their situation with Paul Pogba, who is yet to commit his long-term future at Old Trafford. If Pogba is assessing his options this summer, then Manchester United may turn their attention towards Neves.
What happens with Neves this summer could be interesting, as the Portuguese midfielder may have quite a few good options to choose from. Both Arsenal and Manchester United represent an upgrade to Wolves for Neves, while Wolves might benefit from doing business with either club.
