Real Madrid have reignited their interest in Robert Lewandowski, who is reportedly contemplating a summer departure from Bayern Munich.
As per a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Real Madrid are once again hot in pursuit of Robert Lewandowski heading into the summer transfer window. The Polish goal machine could be on his way out of Bayern Munich ahead of the 2021/22 season, with his agent Pini Zahavi in contact with several top European clubs.
Lewandowski has established himself as one of the very best players in the game since joining Bayern Munich from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2014. Over the past seven years, the 32-year-old has gone from strength to strength, almost always finishing atop the Bundesliga scoring charts and playing a key role in Bayern Munich’s dominance in Bundesliga as well as their UEFA Champions League triumph last year.
His numbers for Bayern Munich are simply astounding, with Lewandowski having a brilliant tally of 289 goals and 64 assists in 329 appearances for Die Roten, and is well on his way to winning the European Golden Shoe for a second successive year. Suffice to say, Lewandowski is a player who can improve just about every team. And, Real Madrid are showing an interest in him.
Speculation surrounding Lewandowski’s future started growing recently, as reputed German journalist Max Bielefeld claimed that several top European clubs have interested in the Pole and are already in contact with his agent, Pini Zahavi. And, it appears Real Madrid are in pursuit of the 32-year-old.
The central striker’s berth is one position that has seemingly been in the pink of health at Real Madrid for some time now, considering just how well Karim Benzema has performed for them over the years. However, as the ongoing campaign has showed, Los Blancos are often too over-dependent on the Frenchman, with goals from other quarters being negligible.

In order to solve that issue, Erling Haaland, who is reportedly intent on joining Real Madrid, is rumoured to be a target. However, seeing as the Norwegian is one of the most sought-after players in football at the moment, it is likely that he will command a fee that might not be affordable for a cash-strapped Real Madrid.
The Merengues, though, also seem to be identifying cost-effective alternatives, as is suggested by their interest in Andre Silva. As for Lewandowski, Real Madrid seem to have contacted Zahavi and it will be interesting to see how talks progress, if at all. For now, the Spanish heavyweights are hot in pursuit of the Polish goal-machine.
