Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho is reportedly determined to push for a late move to Manchester United this summer.
Manchester United have been given a late boost in their pursuit of Jadon Sancho, it seems, as The Sun yesterday reported that the Borussia Dortmund youngster is determined to seal a move to Old Trafford within the next few days.
Sancho has reportedly asked his representatives to “pull out all the stops” and is pushing for a transfer as we head towards the final days before the transfer window slams shut. The report also claims that Borussia Dortmund are bracing themselves to lose their star attacker this summer.
The rumour emerged just after the Englishman was left out of the Borussia Dortmund team that faced Bayern Munich in the DFL Supercup. Marco Reus started alongside Julian Brandt, with Sancho not even included on the subs’ bench as the Black and Yellows eventually lost the game 3-2.
Borussia Dortmund, however, have remained quite reluctant on offloading Sancho to Manchester United this summer. Their sporting director, Michael Zorc had already ruled out a move earlier in the summer and his comments were endorsed by former club captain Sebastian Kehl and current captain Marco Reus.
“For us players that was great news. We all were happy that he will be with us for one more year because he delivers assists and goals, so we get points.”, said the German international, just before the DFL Supercup.
However, Sancho’s omission from the team, in the game against Bayern now raises a lot of questions regarding his future, although Borussia Dortmund themselves should be delighted to get anything around the €100 million mark as they already have splendid depth in their offensive unit.
In fact, one could raise the argument that Borussia Dortmund can, in fact, live without Jadon Sancho, whose sale will enable the Bundesliga giants to fill some gaps in their team during these remaining days of the summer transfer window.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are in desperate need of quality attackers as they look to compete with the likes of Manchester City and Liverpool this season. The potential addition of Sancho, in that regard, could be a massive coup for the Red Devils, who have recently secured a comfortable win over Brighton & Hove Albion in the Carabao Cup.
As for the player himself, he will relish the challenge of proving himself in the Premier League while a move to Old Trafford could also help him improve his reputation significantly. So it will be interesting to see how this transfer saga takes shape within the next few days.
