Barcelona have reportedly reached an agreement with Memphis Depay over a move from Lyon in the summer transfer window.
According to the reliable Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have taken a big step forward in their bid to secure the services of Memphis Depay in the summer transfer window. The La Liga heavyweights have agreed personal terms with the former Manchester United forward, but are yet to find a consensus with Lyon over a transfer fee.

Depay has turned his career around spectacularly since joining Lyon from Manchester United in the January transfer window of 2017. An underconfident, yet promising winger when he called it quits at Old Trafford, he is now regarded as one of the most enterprising forwards in Europe, with a solid tally of 57 goals and 43 assists in 139 outings to show for his efforts during his time at Lyon.
However, it has been widely reported that the Dutch international could be on the move this summer after Les Gones controversially missed out on European football for the coming season. And, Barcelona are interested in signing the ex-Manchester United player.
Barcelona are in a transitional period following a horrendous 2019/20 campaign that saw two different managers being sacked. Ronald Koeman has now arrived at Camp Nou and major changes appear to be in order at the club.
There was a brief scare that club icon and captain Lionel Messi could leave Barcelona this summer after being admittedly becoming unsettled at Camp Nou. However, with Messi set to stay, Koeman will build his squad around the Argentine wizard, with attack being a priority.
Lautaro Martinez has been Barcelona’s top target this summer, but his hefty price tag has made matter complicated. As a result, it looks like the La Liga heavyweights have shifted their focus towards former Manchester United forward Depay, with whom they have been in contact for some time.
Barcelona seem to have made quick progress in the Dutch international’s pursuit as well, with the reliable Fabrizio Romano suggesting that they have already reached an agreement over personal terms. However, a transfer fee with Lyon is yet to be agreed, something that has been corroborated by Rudi Garcia, who has claimed that the Ligue 1 outfit have not received a bid for Depay.
Depay is one of two Dutch players who are the subject of interest from Barcelona this summer, with Georginio Wijnaldum being heavily linked with them as well. What now remains to be seen is if the Blaugrana make further progress in pursuit of Depay by agreeing a fee with Lyon for the former Manchester United man.
