Liverpool are reportedly interested in signing Dominik Szoboszlai, who is valued at £26 million by Red Bull Salzburg, this summer.
According to a report by Italian outlet Tuttosport, as relayed by Daily Mail, Liverpool could return to make a raid on Red Bull Salzburg once again in the summer transfer window. Hungarian teenage midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai, who is also being tailed by several other European clubs, is on their radar and a £26 million move could be on the cards.
2019-20 has been Dominik Szoboszlai’s maiden full season in the first-team setup at Red Bull Salzburg and the player has quickly managed to establish himself as a regular. A mainstay in midfield, the 19-year-old has made 29 appearances in all competitions this term, with 4 goals and 7 assists to show for his efforts.
At the same time, he is also a regular for the Hungarian national side and is well and truly making massive strides at the Red Bull Arena. His progress has been duly noted by several top clubs across Europe, with Liverpool the latest to show an interest, as per Tuttosport (h/t Daily Mail).
Liverpool seem to be set to enter the transfer market for a midfielder this summer, with it being one of the departments that could see some changes at the end of the season. Adam Lallana has still not put pen to paper on a new deal, with his contract set to run out this summer.
In addition, Naby Keita appears to be unsettled at Anfield and a move away from Liverpool could be in the offing. If both Keita and Lallana leave, Jurgen Klopp will surely need to add to his midfield options, despite the progress shown by impressive youngster Curtis Jones.
To that end, Houssem Aouar has reportedly been identified as a possible solution, with Szoboszlai a viable target for Liverpool as well. And, it looks like Liverpool are seriously considering another raid on Red Bull Salzburg after signing Takumi Minamino in January.
Signing him would cost an economical £26 million, hardly a steep amount for a promising player who has his best years well ahead of him. However, Liverpool are not the only club eager to secure the signature of Szoboszlai, with the likes AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Arsenal in pursuit of the 19-year-old as well.
What now remains to be seen is if Liverpool make a concrete attempt to secure the services of young Dominik Szoboszlai in the summer transfer window. If they are ineeed serious with their interest in the Hungarian teenager, a £26 million might be on the horizon, although the Reds will need to beat a lot of competition before signing the 19-year-old.
