Manchester United are reportedly ready to meet Borussia Dortmund’s £100 million demand to sign priority target Jadon Sancho.
According to a report by Daily Mirror, Manchester United will not be put off by Borussia Dortmund’s asking price for Jadon Sancho. The Bundesliga giants are demanding £100 million in exchange for the English international, a valuation that United are prepared to meet.
Jadon Sancho has become one of the most highly sought-after players in all of Europe over the last year or so, having set the stage alight since joining Borussia Dortmund from Manchester City in the summer of 2017. The teenage prodigy was in spectacular form last term and has only gone from strength to strength at the onset of the current season.
In 13 appearances across all competitions, the player has a superb return of 4 goals and 7 assists. And, his exploits have not just made Sancho a regular for the English national team but also made him a key target for some of the biggest clubs in the world, most notably Manchester United.
The struggling English giants were heavily linked with the 19-year-old in the summer as well, but chose not to bolster their attack over the course of the window. This decision has invariably come back to haunt Manchester United, who have sorely lacked creativity so far this season.
Furthermore, while offloading Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez might or might not have majorly affected them in terms of quality, strength in depth is what is missing from their attacking arsenal.
All things considered, Sancho is the kind of player who ought to be high on the priority list for Manchester United, seeing as he could not just boost the creative quotient in the squad but also be a long-term solution for the long-standing problem area that is the right wing. And, that indeed appears to be true.
Widespread reports have suggested that Manchester United will make a move for Sancho next summer. And, Daily Mirror suggest that the Red Devils’ have no qualms in meeting the valuation that has been set by Borussia Dortmund for Sancho – £100 million.
Sancho also fits the profile of players that Manchester United have been targetting under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. With the player also admittedly being open to making a return to England to play his club football, a mega-money switch to Old Trafford might just be on the cards.
What might just be a deterrent is the possible absence of Champions League football, a competition which Sancho has already featured in regularly. For now, it is clear is that Manchester United are set to prioritise a move for Jadon Sancho, and it remains to be seen if a £100 million transfer sees the light of the day when they launch the offensive for the teenager.
