Alexis Sanchez is close to completing a move to Inter Milan in the coming days while also being ready to accept a massive pay-cut.
Manchester United’s incoming transfer business was indeed concluded with the Premier League deadline. They are still working on moves to offload players surplus to requirements. According to The Mail, Alexis Sanchez might be close to a move to Inter Milan and could complete the transfer in the coming days. The Chilean is willing to accept a pay cut to join the Italian side.
Sanchez’s time at Manchester United has not been a successful one. The Chilean indeed failed to emulate his performances while at Arsenal, while his £500k-a-week salary has been burning a hole in Manchester United’s wage bill. Recently manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer reportedly warned Sanchez he would be training with the reserves if he failed to move away from the club.
The club have been working hard and talking to potential suitors about the possibility to send Sanchez away. Roma were credited with an interest, although the Italian side only wanted a loan deal as opposed to Manchester United’s demand for a permanent transfer. Now Inter Milan seems to be closing in on the move for the Chilean and effectively end his Old Trafford nightmare.
Inter boss Antonio Conte wants to add Sanchez to his side and has reportedly urged his club to make a move happen. Sanchez, 30, had interested Conte before when the Italian was the manager of Premier League side Chelsea. Conte wants to add Sanchez to an already deadly looking attack spearheaded by new signing Romelu Lukaku from Manchester United.
Inter want a loan deal with the option to buy. The Italian side intend to structure a deal in such a way that they are willing to pay United €5 million for the first season and €18 million at the end of the second loan spell. United, instead want €25 million upfront from Inter to seal a permanent deal. Like in the case of Lukaku’s sale, the sides are expected to come to a viable agreement for Sanchez.
Sanchez, on the other hand, is ready to take a massive pay-cut to join the Italians. The Chilean’s representatives have already suggested such an idea as Sanchez is prepared to take a reported £9 million hit on his current earnings. There are indications that his salary at the San Siro would still be lesser than what Lukaku earns. The Belgian is currently Inter’s highest-paid star.
Will Sanchez be able to end his United nightmare and resurrect his career at Inter Milan? Maybe so, but for all those things to happen, he would have to complete a move first. As for Inter, a deal could be beneficial as the side aims to challenge the likes of Juventus and Napoli for the Serie A crown in the upcoming campaign.
