Barcelona are ready to offer Philippe Coutinho, Ousmane Dembele plus cash for PSG superstar Neymar as they hope to close this long-standing saga.
The Neymar saga is set to drag on as there have been no concrete moves happening in any direction, either from Barcelona or PSG. The Brazilian has made his intention to leave PSG clear over the summer, and Barcelona is thought to be his preferred destination. The Blaugrana have now, according to the Daily Mail offered Philippe Coutinho and Ousmane Dembele as part of the deal to sign Neymar.
Barcelona are also ready to throw in some cash to the tune of €40 million for the Brazilian as they make their move to bring Neymar back to the Camp Nou. The PSG star has cut an unhappy figure since the season ended, signaling his intent to leave Paris. He also stirred the pot by claiming his best footballing highlight was when Barcelona beat PSG.
PSG signed Neymar in a world record £198 million deal two years ago, and the Parisian club are certainly looking to recoup the fee they paid. In fact, PSG value Neymar at £270 million currently and are refusing to budge on their valuation. Barcelona had been reported to have offered as many as three players before in a similar offer for Neymar.
Coming to the current situation and Barcelona are willing to sacrifice two of their recent high-profile signings to bring the Brazilian back. Coutinho and Dembele have failed to live up to expectations since their big moves. The Catalans are wasting no time to get rid of them.
However, this offer may fail to tempt PSG into sanctioning Neymar’s move to Barcelona. PSG believe they already have a wealth of attacking options to contend with. Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria and Julian Draxler are all settled well in Paris. PSG are instead looking at a few defensive players including Clement Lenglet to be included in any deal for Neymar.
Additionally, the €40 million that Barcelona have offered may not be sufficient in the first place. PSG are in a strong position to negotiate their terms for any transfer involving Neymar.
Barcelona had been hoping to conclude their window by signing Neymar. The Catalans recently brought the curtains down on yet another transfer saga, as they completed the signing of Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid. They want Neymar to challenge for La Liga and Champions League honours next season, but the Brazilian’s transfer saga is set to last for a more extended period.
Are PSG right in holding their side over Neymar and not wanting Coutinho or Dembele in a deal for their superstar? Possibly, because until the point where Barcelona pay the asking price for Neymar, there is no agreement expected between the two sides, irrespective of what Neymar wants.
