Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira has put pen to a new contract, that will keep him at the club till 2023.
Manchester United academy graduate and Brazilian international Andreas Pereira has signed a new four-year contract till 2023, with the option to extend it by a further twelve months, the club have confirmed on their official website.
Pereira joined the Manchester United academy in 2011 from Dutch outfit PSV Eindhoven. The 23-year-old made his senior debut for the Red Devils in August 2014, in a 4-0 League Cup defeat to MK Dons under then-manager Louis van Gaal.

Pereira spent two seasons away on loan in the La Liga with Granada (2016-17) and Valencia (2017-18). The Belgium-born Brazilian midfielder was integrated into the first-team at the beginning of the 2018-19 term by Jose Mourinho but was axed soon after.
It was only after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from the Portuguese that Pereira saw meaningful game time, ending the campaign with 22 appearances across all competitions in which he bagged a goal and an assist apiece. Till date, the midfielder has featured a total of 35 times for Manchester United.
Following the departure of Ander Herrera this summer, Pereira is set to have an increased role with the Red Devils. After the contract extension, the one-time capped Brazilian international expressed his delight, saying, “I have spent so long in Manchester that I now regard the city and the club as my home and I’m extremely happy to continue my career here.”
“The manager has shown great faith in me and I can’t wait to get this campaign started under him. We know that we all have to work hard and that started on day one of pre-season. I will be doing everything I can to help us perform the way we need to, this season and beyond.”
Solskjaer was full of praise for Pereira’s attitude and work-ethic following the contract extension. He said, “Andreas has become an important member of the squad with his energy and hard work in midfield. He works non-stop every day in training, has a great character and knows what he has to do to continue his development here. We all look forward to working with him in the season ahead.”
Pereira’s contract extension comes in the wake of star striker Marcus Rashford committing his long-term future to the club and was followed by the announcement of another academy graduate Axel Tuanzebe also penning a new deal.
