Gareth Bale could reportedly head out on a season-long loan move to Bayern Munich as his Real Madrid career appears to be truly over.
Gareth Bale’s appalling situation at Real Madrid continues to attract speculation. Both the club and player seem undecided on the next course of action regarding his future. According to The Sun, Bayern Munich are willing to offer a lifeline to the Welsh star by providing a season-long loan deal while also showing readiness to pay his astronomical wages.
Since Zinedine Zidane’s reappointment at Real Madrid, the French manager has made it clear Bale does not feature in his plans. The Welshman was reportedly ready to leave the club after a heroic Champions League final performance in May 2018, but due to Zidane’s shock departure stayed put. This time, however, the Frenchman is going nowhere and Bale is expected to leave.
Although he is heavily tipped to leave, his staggering wages are proving to be a stumbling block. Bale reportedly clears £350,000 per week after taxes and most club at this point in time are unwilling to pay such figures.
Manchester United have been persistently linked with Bale and so were former club Tottenham. But, neither club is willing to pay the kind of salary and transfer fees involved in signing the Welshman, as per the report. With Real Madrid growing increasingly concerned about the Bale situation, Bayern Munich have offered hope to the Spanish side.
The Bavarians are willing to take Bale on a season-long loan deal and are also willing to pay his wages. Bayern have lost the experience and style of duo Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery. They are seeking an experienced player of quality and prefer Bale to the others available this summer.
Bayern are not showing any concern over the wages and seems to be willing to pay what may be required. The Bundesliga Champions are also on the trail of Leroy Sane. A deal to get the Manchester City winger is increasingly looking difficult, and the Bavarians are prepared to wait for another season before they get their man.
While Sane remains their top target, Bale could offer a stop-gap solution for the Bundesliga champions. Moreover, for Bale, it could be a great chance to resurrect his flailing career at Madrid with a move to Munich. The Germans will be able to offer significant challenges throughout the season as well as fighting in the Champions League.
At Madrid, the arrival of Eden Hazard is further proof of Bale’s wantaway status. The Belgian will be the undisputed starter for much of next season, meaning Bale is even closer to the exit door.
The coming days will make it clear if the reports of the loan move to Bayern Munich are indeed correct. Bale still has it in him to succeed at the very top. Real Madrid, on the other hand, could wait for more suitors to follow in, but as things stand, a route to Germany looks the safest bet and the La Liga giants would want business on Bale concluded as soon as possible.
