PSG have reportedly tabled Manchester United superstar Ander Herrera a massive £150,000 per week offer to land him on a free transfer this summer.
According to a report by The Sun, Manchester United could be about to lose Ander Herrera on a free transfer in the summer transfer window. The Spaniard has been offered a lucrative £150,000-a-week contract by PSG, with negotiations over a new deal at Manchester United seemingly stalling.
It has been a long and arduous journey for Ander Herrera in his bid to become an important player at Manchester United, having joined the Premier League heavyweights from Athletic Bilbao in the summer of 2014. Nearly five years later, the Spanish midfielder is an indispensable figure at Old Trafford, having previously seen his stock fall after winning the club’s Player of the Year in 2017.
Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer though, Herrera has been an ever present whenever fit and available. But, despite his importance, there have been ever growing concerns at Manchester United over the fact that his current contract will run out in the summer. And, those concerns ought to now become major fears, with PSG reportedly interested in the 29-year-old.
The interest from Les Parisiens does make sense, when one takes a look at the squad at the disposal of Thomas Tuchel. Marco Verratti is a pivotal figure for PSG, while Marquinhos has stepped up well in his new role of a holding midfielder this season. Beyond the duo, however, there is a lack of genuine game changing options.
Leandro Paredes did join PSG in the January transfer window, but has struggled to settle in quickly. The big concern for the Ligue 1 champions though, is seeking a replacement for Adrien Rabiot who, like Herrera, is set to be out of contract in the summer transfer window.
Coincidentally, Manchester United have also been linked with the exiled star and in a freak twist of fate, he could well be replaced by Herrera at PSG. The report suggests that the Parisian club have been in talks with the Spaniard and have tabled a £150,000-a-week three-year deal for his representatives to consider.
The French outfit are willing to offer the player the aforementioned terms as they will not have to shell out a transfer fee to acquire his services. And, in what comes as a blow to United, Herrera is now likely to join PSG on a free transfer, having previously been set to hand him a new three-year deal of their own.
While nothing seems to have been confirmed, as per The Sun, Manchester United will have to move quickly in order to agree fresh terms with Ander Herrera, if the claims in the report are indeed true. It now remains to be seen if Ander Herrera’s time at Old Trafford comes to an end this summer with a move to PSG, or if he stays put at the club.
