Alex Sandro is reportedly on the radar of PSG, who have joined Manchester United in pursuit of the Brazilian, amid his contract standoff with Juventus.
According to a report by French publication Le 10 Sport, Alex Sandro faces an uncertain future at Juventus, who have not offered him a contract extension yet. The Brazilian left-back is the subject of interest from PSG, who also have Manchester United for company in his pursuit.
Constantly on the radar of Manchester United, Sandro has been immense for Juventus since joining from FC Porto in the summer of 2015. The Brazilian international has been instrumental on the left flank for the Bianconeri, having played a pivotal part in their Serie A title success over the last three seasons, thereby becoming one of Europe’s finest full-backs.
Surprisingly though, his exploits have not been enough to be handed a contract extension, with his current deal set to run out in less than two years. The report suggests that despite promising €4 million in annual wages, a contract offer hasn’t been forthcoming, which has piqued the interest of PSG.
Sandro has also delivered a messaged to the seniors about his present condition declaring the uncertainty over his contract issue, which would provide PSG further impetus to pursue a move for the former Manchester United target
“I have not yet received a proposal for an extension. I still have this year and the next. I focus on the present and then we’ll see what happens.”
PSG have begun the season strongly, at least in domestic football, with seven wins from their first seven games. But it is the left-back slot that is causing a few problems. Layvin Kurzawa’s frequent injuries make him a liability, and Juan Bernat’s summer arrival from Bayern Munich doesn’t make up for it completely.
PSG need a more consistent and assertive player in the position with vast amount of experience and confidence to aid new manager, Thomas Tuchel’s attacking intent this season. As a result, Les Parisiens have been linked with a number of left-backs, including another former Manchester United target Danny Rose.
Sandro though, looks like a legitimate option for PSG who intend to challenge for European glory this term, having added some exciting talents in the form of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe over the last few transfer windows. Manchester United, on the other hand, are seemingly out of the running for now, owing to Luke Shaw’s sensational advent this season.
Juventus need to secure the future of Alex Sandro with a new deal so as to not to lose him before the termination of his existing contract. Otherwise, they would be hurting themselves for the insufficient movement made over his contract, with PSG lurking to make a move for the former Manchester United target.
