Real Madrid are plotting a stunning swoop for Harry Kane as they prepare for life without Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
According to shocking reports from Spanish news outlet Don Balon, Real Madrid are prepared to go all out in the market this summer in search of a Cristiano Ronaldo replacement and Harry Kane has emerged as a leading candidate.
Portuguese superstar Ronaldo is highly linked with a move out of Bernabeu, of late with Juventus closing in on a €100 million swoop for the former Manchester United attacker. This scenario has left Madrid with little option but to sign another Galactico this summer as they prepare for life without the Portuguese sensation.
The likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe have already been named as potential candidates. But having said that, club president Florentino Perez is well aware of their enormous price tags that could well breach the €350 million mark. As a result of which, the European champions have set their sights on a relatively cheaper alternative in Harry Kane.
The Tottenham Hotspur main man is currently regarded as one of the best strikers in world football, thanks to his consistent performances in the past few seasons. Since his Premier League debut back in August 2012, the English international has notched up 108 goals in just over 150 league matches. Kane has been selected in PFA’s Team of the Year in each of the past four seasons and is currently sixth in the club’s all-time top scorers list.
His performances for England have also impressed onlookers in the ongoing 2018 FIFA World Cup. In fact, the 24-year-old is leading the race for the Golden Boot having netted in six goals in the tournament.
Real Madrid, on the other hand, are poised to undergo an overhaul in the attacking department this summer. The likes of Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo face an uncertain future at the club, while Gareth Bale has also struggled with his injuries during the past couple of seasons.
Ronaldo’s departure, in particular, could create a gaping hole in the revered Los Blancos attack next season. Thus, Kane is definitely a viable target for the European Champions.
Even though he failed to win any major trophy during his career, it’s rather evident that the Tottenham attacker has bagged a lot of success on an individual level. And given the fact individual quality is one of the main pre-requisites for joining a club like Madrid, Kane could become a huge success at the club in the nigh future.
His lethal scoring prowess coupled with his unmatched tenacity in the final third could hand Real Madrid a much-needed boost in that area of the pitch, especially with Ronaldo on the verge of leaving the club. Moreover, at the age of 24, he could transform into one of the greatest assets for the Spanish giants within the coming years.
That being said, it could become significantly difficult for Real Madrid to secure the services of Harry Kane this summer. The English international recently signed a long-term contract with the Lilywhites, meaning they will likely have to shell out Spurs’ asking price of €226 million.
Additionally, Los Blancos are believed to be interested in signing Chelsea’s Eden Hazard. The Belgian superstar is set to partner up with Kane to form the new look Real Madrid attack next season.
