Arsenal are monitoring Nantes starlet Amine Harit, according to reports
According to Foot Mercato, Arsenal sent scouts to watch 19-year old Amine Harit during the match between Nantes and Lorient’s Ligue 1 encounter, with the Gunners apparently keen on signing the midfielder.
Harit, who joined Nantes from Red Star back in 2012, has steadily progressed through their academy and has clearly made a big impact on the coaching staff at the French side, having been given his debut in August during a clash against Dijon.
The France U20 international has since gone on to make a very impressive 32 appearances across all competitions for Nantes – 21 of those coming as starts – and has picked up 1 goal in Ligue 1 on the way during Nantes 2-0 victory over Angers.
A technically gifted midfielder who possesses great dribbling ability and is a good passer of the ball, Harit has shown great consistency for Nantes this season and was rewarded with a new contract in January as a result of his performances, tying him down to the club until 2020.
Harit has also shown that he is willing to work hard for the team and has been registering an average of 1.37 chances created, 1.37 key passes, 1.10 tackles won and an impressive 3.34 successful take ons per 90 minutes in Ligue 1, according to Squawka.
Despite the fact that Harit has only just signed a contract extension, Foot Mercato clearly feel that Arsenal will attempt to sign the midfielder at the end of the season but they do state that Arsenal’s priority is first sorting out the futures of Arsene Wenger, Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil, something that goes without saying.
Arsenal have a reputation for plucking some of the best talents from France given Arsene Wenger’s contacts in the country and it is no surprise they are monitoring Harit, who is highly regarded by both the media and coaching staff.
The move would no doubt tempt Harit given Arsenal’s magnificent facilities and the fact that he will get to work with Arsene Wenger but given the struggles the club have faced in recent times, he might think twice about a move at this point in time.
There is also the fact that he is only 19 years of age and it might suit him better to stay at Nantes , where he is given regular opportunities in the first team, in order to develop. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will actually sign the youngster this season but this will not be the last you hear of Harit.
