Tottenham Hotspur have set their sights on Adrien Rabiot and are lining up a summer move for the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder
The Daily Mirror have reported that Tottenham Hotspur are set to revive their interest in Adrien Rabiot. With the Paris Saint-Germain midfielder hinting that he may be open to a move away from the Parc des Princes, Tottenham are considering making a move for the Frenchman.
He said: “I am under contract until 2019 and I do not think that I am in a rush. If there are offers from big clubs, that obviously demands that they are considered.”
“Clubs like Real Madrid, they are great clubs but, truly, the most important thing is the present and I am concentrating on what I am doing right now, that is the best thing to do.”
Adrien Rabiot has grown from strength to strength ever since graduating from the academy at PSG before making his senior debut as a 17-year-old. It has been just over four years since then and Rabiot has reaffirmed his status as one of the most promising youngsters in Europe in that time.
He’s only 21 but has already notched up close to 150 appearances for the senior side, and has already won four Ligue 1 titles with Les Parisiens. This season Rabiot has become a mainstay under new manager Unai Emery and has played 19 games in Ligue 1 in addition to four in the Champions League.
And it is not just his stock that has risen in the last few years but his technical abilities as well. Often deployed as the defensive midfielder in front of the back four, Rabiot is known for his no-nonsense attitude, smart tackling, quick rotation of the ball from deep and tenacious pressing.
As he has continued to grow with the French giants, Rabiot is a player who has been looked at by several clubs. Tottenham are one of those outfits, and the North London club twice tried to bring Rabiot to White Hart Lane on loan two years ago before being turned down by PSG.
However, with Rabiot admitting that he might be open to a move away from the club in the future, Tottenham are ready to enter the market for the youngster yet again. Manager Mauricio Pochettino already has Eric Dier, Victor Wanyama and Moussa Dembele in midfield.
But as was shown by their disastrous showing in Europe this season, they often lost their battles in midfield and Rabiot’s possible addition could be just the upgrade that the Tottenham boss would be looking for.
The Argentine has also shown that he can work wonders to the talents of young, promising players with Dele Alli being one of the shining examples. It now remains to be seen if they indeed make a concrete offer for Rabiot in the summer, and if they can manage to bring him to North London.
