James Rodriguez will snub a move to Manchester United to play for Bayern Munich when he leaves Real Madrid at the end of the season, as per reports.
Spanish publication Don Balon have reported that James Rodriguez has decided where he wants to play next season when he leaves Real Madrid in the summer, claiming that the Colombian will snub Manchester United in favour of a move to Bayern Munich.
The fortunes don’t seem to be improving for James Rodriguez as he continues to be out of favour with Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, and has fallen way down the pecking order behind the likes of Isco, Marco Asensio and Lucas Vazquez.
Suffice to say, the Colombian, who arrived at the Santiago Bernabeu after impressing at the 2014 FIFA World Cup with has failed to make much progress in his career under the Frenchman, with the majority of his time in the last year and a half being spend on the bench.
Rodriguez has managed to start just 8 games in all competitions so far in the current campaign and other than an injury-plagued January, he has been largely overlooked by Zidane. With first team football hard to come by, Rodriguez has previously indicated his desire to move on from his Real Madrid nightmare.
With uncertainty surrounding his future, several clubs have been rumoured to be on the coat tails of Rodriguez. Manchester United looked the closest to Rodriguez of these sides, with reports last month claiming that he was inching closer to a move to Old Trafford.
With Jose Mourinho planning the second phase of his squad overhaul at Manchester United, Rodriguez was identified as one of the players who could add a breath of fresh air to his side’s attack.
However, it has now emerged that Rodriguez has his heart set on a move to Germany instead, where he wants to reunite with his former Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is now at the helm at Bayern Munich.
Rodriguez enjoyed his best ever season for Los Blancos under the Italian tactician, as he scored 17 goals in all competitions in his first season in the Spanish capital. And the Colombia international believes that the best next step for his career will be to reunite with Ancelotti, who he believes can take the best out of him.
Bayern Munich haven’t been linked at all with Rodriguez and Ancelotti has an abundance of attacking talents at his disposal. However, the report adds that Ancelotti will be glad to add the Colombian to the Bavarian club’s ranks.
The Bayern Munich boss believes that Rodriguez still has a lot to offer and has thus given the orders to the Bundesliga club to prepare a bid for the player. It now remains to be seen if Rodriguez gets his wish and wins a move to Bayern Munich to reunite with Ancelotti next season.
