Real Madrid are reportedly plotting a sensational summer swoop to bring Tottenham superstar Dele Alli over to the Santiago Bernabeu
Daily Mirror are claiming that Real Madrid are ready to step up their interest in Tottenham superstar Dele Alli. The trequartista has been linked with the likes of Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain recently and it looks like Los Blancos are now plotting a summer swoop to secure the signature of one of the brightest attacking talents in Europe at the present moment.
Dele Alli’s has been a mercurial rise, almost akin or even better than Marcus Rashford’s emergence at Manchester United. Alli arrived from MK Dons in a near £5 million transfer and has since grown in reputation, impressing with each passing fixture, and establishing himself as not only a regular, but also a key member in the first-team setup at Tottenham.
Such has been the level of his displays that he was named was PFA Young Player of the Year in his debut season in the top flight of English football. His current season numbers also make for brilliant reading. The 20-year-old has 8 goals and 2 assists in 18 Premier League outings for Tottenham, ably supporting compatriot Harry Kane up-front.
His impressive displays have already brought about speculation linking him to the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid. But the player was recently tied to a long-term contract in September, a deal that is set to run till 2022. The new contract was handed both as a reward for his performances and to fend off potential suitors.
However, Real Madrid are unmoved by the new long-term deal that sees Dele Alli pocket £60,000 per-week. Los Blancos are serving a one-window transfer ban and are planning to move for the 20-year-old at the end of the season.
Madrid are preparing for life without the midfield duo of Isco and James Rodriguez, who are both expected to depart from the Santiago Bernabeu soon, and sees Dele Alli as the perfect addition to their squad to fill the gap to be left by departures. Alli is only 20 and could serve as a key player of the setup for the next decade or so for Los Merengues.
The news of Real Madrid getting prepared to step up their interest comes in the wake of back-to-back braces by Dele Alli in the Premier League. The 20-year-old is seen as a complete package and is unlikely to turn down a dream move to Real Madrid, to link up with former Tottenham stars Gareth Bale and Luka Modric.
Paris Saint-Germain, though, could have something to say about this. The French champions are also eyeing additions to their squad and are unlikely to let Real Madrid have a clear run in at Dele Alli. And, neither would Tottenham. Pochettino seems intent on setting up a dynasty and Alli seems to be one of the players at the very heart of the Argentine’s plans.
Mauricio Pochettino has already hailed Dele Alli while admitting to his valuation being around the £50 million mark, a fee neither Paris Saint-Germain nor Real Madrid would have trouble in splashing to land the prodigious 20-year-old.
However, as has been the case in the past, Tottenham may be powerless in front of Real Madrid’s pull, both financially and otherwise, which could see Dele Alli don the iconic Real jersey and be the next English superstar to strut his stuff at the Santiago Bernabeu.
