It seems that Juventus might face the possibility of losing another star to Real Madrid besides striker Alvaro Morata. There has been a sensational report of Florentino Perez pondering an offer for Zidane’s countryman Paul Pogba to strengthen their side over the summer.
After Juve enjoyed another successful season in Italy, they are expected to strengthen their squad on all fronts. What much of the early part of the transfer season has missed is its fair share of the mandatory Pogba rumours and speculation. But that came to an end yesterday when transfer guru and columnist Gianluca Di Marzio said that Florentino Perez is indeed weighing over the possibility of a Paul Pogba transfer despite being critical of the Frenchman before.
The Multiple Negotiations
Real and Juve are set to hold protracted talks regarding the availability of Croatian Matteo Kovacic, who made a switch from Italy to Spain just a year ago. Allegri, who is an admirer of the ex-Inter player, has reportedly made him a priority this summer. Along with Kovacic, Juve would also like to pay €10-15m to permanently secure Morata and override his buy back clause according to reports.
All this could essentially culminate into a multiple player-plus-cash deal for the highly rated Frenchman who is among the most desired footballers at present, being valued at more than a €100m. The number of teams who have shown an interest in Pogba speaks for the player’s value in the eyes of the football world.
Jorge Calabres of Digital Bernabeu fame also seems convinced that Pogba has already given his “okay” to play for Zidane’s side, who recently won the Champions League. In fact, Zidane recently voiced his admiration for Pogba claiming that “every side would want a player like him” (via Daily Mail).
Pogba, like many of his Juventus co-stars, had a slow start to the season which culminated in the team winning the scudetto a fifth consecutive time. But even in a season which was average by his lofty standards, Pogba has managed to score 8 goals and provide 12 assists. At the moment, the transfer seems unlikely with Juventus trying to broker a deal for Pjanic and Andre Gomes to strengthen the midfield. A potential Pogba transfer remains a distant possibility but a possibility nevertheless.
