Jurgen Klopp committed his long term future to Liverpool FC by signing a contract extension that will see him at the helm of affairs at Anfield up until 2022. The Reds’ fans celebrated the news on social media, hailing it as the best signing the Reds have made this summer.
Since his arrival last October, Klopp has been responsible for a change in scenery at Anfield and nearly delivered on his promise of silverware but for two heart-breaking cup final losses. Nevertheless, the belief and changes he has brought about at the club has been in keeping with what the club owners expected when they signed him up nine months ago. In light of his good work, FSG Group have rewarded Jurgen and his coaching staff with a contract extension that will see the German stay at the red half of Merseyside until 2022.

In nine months of carrying out managerial duties at Liverpool, Klopp has done really well in ingraining his high-pressing philosophy into an inherited squad and helped instill a sense of belief and spirit into the players and fans that aided the club in some of it’s most famous European nights.
His touchline antics, infectious laughter and like-able demeanour have all endeared him to the Liverpool supporters through the early months of his Anfield revolution, which is why a contract extension had Reds’ fans jumping with delight.

Reactions from Manager and Club Owners
Jurgen Klopp
Klopp was understandably delighted with the level of belief and trust FSG had in his workings and stated he felt it was his responsibility to respect the commitment shown to him by the owners and the club in general. He told the official website,”It’s hard to express in words how honoured myself, Zeljko and Peter feel by the commitment shown in us by the ownership and the club in general.”
“We are very much at the beginning of our journey, but to already have the connection we have with this very special place is incredible. I am the first to recognise that with this great commitment comes a great responsibility. All of our coaching careers we have looked to make teams and clubs better, with the ultimate goal of making the supporters proud and happy.”
“There is much to do and much to achieve and we look to do this by being the most completely together group anywhere in the world. That’s everyone and we all have responsibility for it – all of us who are part of this LFC family: players, staff, ownership and of course the supporters. By being together at all times, we will be stronger, better and our successes sweeter.”
FSG
The owners stated that they were impressed by the commitment Klopp showed towards his profession and that it would be ‘irresponsible’ on their part if they didn’t provide him the deserved contract extension and the time he needs to build the Liverpool side and make them a force to be reckoned with in Europe.
Principal owner John Henry, chairman Tom Werner and FSG president Mike Gordon today jointly said, “When you have an individual of Jürgen’s quality in the building it makes perfect sense to secure that person for the long term. To not do so would be irresponsible.”
“The overriding motivation behind this decision is Jürgen’s commitment to overall improvement and development. In Jürgen we have someone who is always looking ahead, always looking beyond his own wants and needs and putting the club first.
“He is a world-class managerial talent and his leadership will be critical to everything we hope to achieve in the years ahead”
