Carlo Ancelotti has identified Italian midfielder, Marco Verratti as his next target at Real Madrid.
Real Madrid already boast of some world-class midfielders in their roster. The likes of Modric, Kroos, Isco and James Rodriguez are excellent players in the middle of the park and have prove their worth throughout the current season. However, except Isco and Kroos, all other Real Madrid midfielder has faced some or the other issues hampering the teama s progress this term.
After injuries to Modric and James Rodriguez, a Los Blancosa faced a lot of problems in the midfield. Players like Khedira, Illarramendi were just not good enough to replace any of the two, while Kroos and Isco were the only saving grace for Ancelotti. This clearly highlighted the lack of depth in the Real Madrid midfield and the overreliance on some of their players. It made clear that the club will have to sign a quality midfielder in the summer.
Sami Khedira and Asier Illarramendi are most likely to leave the club come summer. This means that Ancelotti will certainly move for a midfielder in the next transfer window. Spanish news daily, Marca, reports that the Italian has already shortlisted his countryman, Marco Verratti, to don the white stripes next season.
The midfielder has established himself as a regular starter for Paris Saint-Germain. However, the French giants are now eyeing a move for Juventus star, Paul Pogba. If the Frenchman joins the club in the summer window, PSG might sell one of their key players in order to adhere to the Financial Fair Play Regulations. This means that Verratti might be sacrificed to fit in Paul Pogba in the midfield.
Ancelotti has good relations with the midfielder and might be able to convince him to join Real Madrid. According to reports, the Italian youngster will cost Real Madrid close to a 40 million.
