Manchester United are targeting Bayern Munich’s prolific Robert Lewandowski as the striker they want to bring in this summer.
Manchester United have done extremely well in this transfer window and are gearing up for next season.
The quick additions of Bastian Schweinsteiger, Morgan Schneiderlin and Matteo Darmian have ensured the club has a quality squad to launch a title challenge next season and think about doing well in cup competitions as well.
The club does however, need a quality striker to replace Robin van Persie and have been linked with a few players to do the same. Edinson Cavani, Gonzalo Higuain and Christian Benteke . are three names which have done rounds recently. Latest to join the list is Roberto Lewandowski.
According to The Telegraph, Lewandowski is van Gaal’s top priority. They report: Further moves are anticipated for a centre-half and striker, with Van Gaal placing Bayern forward Robert Lewandowski at the top of his wanted list, despite an acceptance that the Germans would be unlikely to sell a second leading playing to United this summer.
Player’s agent confirms Lewandowski is not thinking about a move
And now the player’s agent, Cezary Kucharski has confirmed reports of Bayern unwilling to do more business with Manchester United this season and having no intention of selling the Polish striker who has done so well in the last three seasons in Germany.
Kucharski said, ‘Robert is one of the most valued strikers on the market who guarantees goals, guarantees assists, excitement. He has shown that over many years during his career. Every year he is an even better player and plays at a higher level and that is very important for other clubs because he has credibility and guarantees at least 30 goals a season.’
Kucharski said that Bayern had no intention of selling the player and the striker was not even thinking of a move away from the club.
‘There must be a signal from the club, from Munich,’ Kucharski said. ‘There is no such signal so we are not thinking about it, because even thinking about a change of club would be unfair in my opinion to the current employers.
‘There is no reason, apart from money to be honest, to even think about it.
‘Bayern would have to think about why they would get rid of Robert Lewandowski? It seems to me that there is no reason to even think about it.’
‘With a player of Robert’s class, the truth is that not a lot of work is required because really there are only two directions in which he could go in the future, England or Spain, and only with Bayern Munich’s acceptance,’ he added.
Correct choice of target for Manchester United but Bayern won’t sell.
The player scored 25 goals and grabbed 7 assists in his first season at the Bavarian club. The player has consistently been reaching the 20 goals+ mark every season and would be the player any club wants in the side.
Therefore, even if he is the right target for Manchester United, it makes it clear why Bayern Munich would hold on to him. Not to mention, they would not want to do further business with United to whom they recently lost Bastian Schweinsteiger.
