Liverpool FC have held talks with Roberto Firmino, Carlos Bacca and Salomon Rondon.
Sky Sports confirmed that the Reds were in talks with the attacking trio.
Brazilian media outlet Globoesporte reported that an A?18m deal and a five-year contract has been agreed for Firmino but Sky Sports confirmed that it had not yet happened.
The Brazilian international was reported to be heading to Old Trafford this summer but new reports have emerged in the last few days claiming Liverpool are seriously interested in getting Firmino to Liverpool. Paul Joyce of the Express reported: The Anfield club is keen on Hoffenheima s attacking midfielder who has also been tracked by Manchester United. Their interest is not dependent on the departure of Sterling, who has been the subject of two rejected bids from . Manchester City. The latest was worth a guaranteed fee of A?35m. Liverpool will decide whether to progress with their interest next week.
The report of Liverpoola s interest in the Brazilian was further substantiated by the comments of The Times editor Tony Evans who said that the club was indeed looking at the attacker to come in this summer to replace Raheem Sterling.
He said, a Therea s going to be a lot of interest in for him Ia d expect him to head to a Champions League club but hea s a name to replace Sterling with at the moment.”
Even James Pearce of Liverpool ECHO confirmed that Liverpool were keeping “close tabsa on Firmino.
Sky’s report of the club being in talks with the player is definitely encouraging as it can be confirmed that the interest in the Brazilian is legitimate. Whether the club will be able to lure him to Anfield remains a big question mark.
Liverpool ECHO also revealed in an exclusive that Liverpool, who need a quality striker this summer, had eyed Carlos Bacca and Salomon Rondon as two strikers that could be brought in this summer to fill a big goal scoring void left by Luis Suarez. The Reds have cooled their interest in Christian Benteke.
Sky Sports have also confirmed that the two strikers have been lined up as players who could be brought in the summer. While Bacca could cost Liverpool around A?20m, Rondon’s sum is said to be quoted at A?15m.
Bacca scored 28 goals last season for Sevilla, while Rondon scored 20 for Zenit St. Petersburg
Firmino and Bacca are both players that could help Rodgers get back to the top 4 next season and aim for a trophy in one of the domestic competitions. Firmino would also be a perfect replacement for imminent departure Raheem Sterling, while Bacca could be the striker Liverpool so desperately needed last season
While the media outlet reporting doesn’t really mean that the trio would be playing in Liverpool’s red next season, it does confirm that the club holds serious interest in all three players and it remains a big possibility, that we could see one of them playing under Brendan Rodgers next season.
