Mario Gotzea s agent Volker Struth has criticized Bayern Munich for lack of support for the player, while media links him with Arsenal FC.
Since making his, much talked about, move from Borussia Dortmund, Mario Gotze has gone on to win two Bundesliga titles with Bayern Munich. But last season, the German international produced some inconsistent performances as Pep Guardiola used him in various positions across the midfield and in attack.
Mario Gotzea s agent Volker Struth has claimed that Bayern Munich hasna t provided enough support to the 23-year-old and Guardiola has failed to get the best out of him as a footballer.
.
“Of course I would have liked if Mario had felt more support in one or two situations.
“I am fully convinced that when Mario feels this support, it is easier for him to show his incredible potential. Then he is one of the best players in the world.” – Struth told Bild.
Gotze was also left on the bench in some important matches last season; against Barcelona in Champions League and his former club Borussia Dortmund in DFB-Pokal. Struth insisted that this has massively disappointed Gotze, who joined Bayern in order play in these big games.
“Of course he was disappointed and that did bother him. As a player, you are always wondering ‘why did I not start?’
“That is why Mario moved to Bayern a to be playing in these big matches and to win titles. But then you get under a certain amount of pressure and it is hard to shake this off.
“I can only repeat what I said a I would have liked a bit more support now and again and this is what I have grown to expect from Bayern.” a Struth added.
Perhaps Strutha s rant is part of an effort to land Gotze a lucrative new deal as his current contract runs out in 2017, a tactics often used by agents across the world. The media however has picked this up as an opportunity to link him with a move to Arsenal.
The German star has drawn interest from Arsenal, prior to his move to Bayern Munich, but according the Mirror (who have subsequently sourced their news from Bild) insist that the London club are a considering a movea for Gotze after his agenta s spat with Bayern.
The above rumour, is likely to stay just a rumour this summer, as Arsene Wenger wona t spend so much money on a player he doesna t need at the moment. A defensive midfielder and new striker is higher on the priority list for the Gunners. Moreover, it is unlikely Gotze will leave Bayern Munich at this point of his career.
