Liverpool FC are lining up a move for PSG defender Mamadou Sakho as contract talks stalls between PSG and the defender.
The 23-year-oldai??i??s future at PSG has been for speculations since last summer. The talented defender has been scouted by a lot of big clubs across Europe, including the likes of Arsenal, AC Milan, Barcelona, Liverpool and now Monaco. The French internationalai??i??s current contract at PSG is about to expire at the end of next season and the French club has offered him an extension. But reports suggest that Sakho is unwilling to commit his future to the club and is now looking for options elsewhere. He has already stated recently that the Monaco project excites him as the new big spenders in France are reportedly lining up a move for him.
Sakho hasnai??i??t been able to grab a permanent place in the starting eleven at PSG as Ancelotti has looked to rotate. The 23-year-oldai??i??s prime concern is regular first team action, Back in March he expressed his displeasure at being the third choice defender at the club, which he feels is hurting his chances to grab a place in the national team.
“In the coach’s hierarchy I am the third choice. I can accept it but I don’t understand. To do well with the National team I need to play continuously. The next season will be important for me, and to continue to improve I will need to play more often.” ai??i?? Sakho was quoted back then.
It is understood that Sakho will have one final discussion with new manager Laurent Blanc before making his final decision. Meanwhile reports from England suggest that Liverpool have revived their interest in Sakho and are closely monitoring this situation.
Liverpool have had a busy summer so far and have already captured the likes of Kolo Toure, Iago Aspas, Luis Alberto and Simon Mignolet. It seems that Brendan Rodgers is now eager to add one more defender to the squad as the future of Martin Skrtel and Sebastian Coates remains in doubts. Skrtel has been linked with Napoli, while Coates is rumoured to be on his way to Italy as well. Liverpool were initially interested in KyriakosAi??Papadopoulos, but Schalkeai??i??s high demands have prevented them from making any progress in this move. The Merseyside club were also considering Swansea City defender Ashley Williams, but the interest seemed to have faded off with time.
Mamadou Sakho will be a fine addition to the Liverpool squad. He is strong in the air and seems like someone who will be capable of handling the physical nature of the Premier League. Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard has expressed his delight at the clubai??i??s recent success in the transfer market, where they have already made four key-signings. The England international believes that these new arrivals can help Liverpool in putting up a better challenge for the top-four spot in league than last season.
