Leeds United set for contract talks with Brenden Aaronson

Daniel Farke is leading the charge for Leeds United to tie down USMNT star Brenden Aaronson to a new deal in the summer.

Brenden Aaronson’s impressive displays this season for Leeds United could see him handed a new deal in the summer. As per Football Insider, the club are preparing to open contract talks with the USMNT star, with manager Daniel Farke leading the charge to keep hold of the 25-year-old playmaker at the club.

Brenden Aaronson has had a strange relationship with the Leeds United fans since he arrived in 2022 under then-manager Jesse Marsch. Despite a decent season that eventually saw the club relegated, the supporters did not appreciate his immediate loan departure to Union Berlin.

He did return to the club after a season in the Bundesliga to help Leeds United gain promotion, playing a key role in their push back to the Premier League. He scored nine goals and provided two assists as the club clinched the Championship title, and with that, returned to the top flight.

Leeds United have benefitted from Daniel Farke’s continued usage of Aaronson this season, with the 25-year-old playmaker registering four goals and three assists in the Premier League. He has been one of the regulars under the German manager, and his contributions have kept them slightly ahead of their relegation rivals.

Leeds United are eager to agree on a new deal with Aaronson, given the 57-cap USMNT international is set to enter the final year of his contract at Elland Road. Farke is reportedly leading the charge over this new agreement and wants the club to make the push, although an agreement is expected to be sought after the World Cup, as the 25-year-old playmaker is expected to play a key role for the USA.

Leeds United’s transfer plans for the summer window

Leeds United will once again spend significantly if they secure safety this season, as a few changes are expected. Farke is anticipating additions in several areas of the pitch, which could include a new defender and a striker.

Wide attackers are also on the agenda, although they will sell winger Largie Ramazani, who is currently on loan at Valencia. Beyond the transfer ins and outs, one of the big priorities for Leeds United would be tying down players like Aaronson to new deals and securing their futures.
