Angelo Stiller is high on the list of some of the top clubs on the continent, as Stuttgart are set to demand a fee closer to €65 million.
According to Fussballdaten, Angelo Stiller is attracting significant interest ahead of a second successive summer, with Stuttgart likely to make a decision on his future. The German side are eager to demand a fee closer to €65 million, with Manchester United, Liverpool and Real Madrid all interested in the German international midfielder.
Stiller was high on Real Madrid’s radar last summer when they appointed Xabi Alonso as their new manager. The Spaniard knows the Stuttgart midfielder’s game well, and in his quest to bring in a deep-lying playmaker, he had him on his shortlist alongside Arsenal’s Martin Zubimendi.
Real Madrid ended up signing neither, as Stiller stayed at Stuttgart — although he could be on the move this summer. The Spanish giants are certainly in the mix, though the report stated their interest was largely driven by his €40 million release clause, which continues to exist in his contract.
Real Madrid are keen to add a new midfielder, amid links to Chelsea’s Enzo Fernandez and Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister, among others. Compared to those two, Stiller could be a considerably cheaper option, even if Stuttgart are demanding a fee close to €65 million for their midfield talent.
Manchester United were keen to sign Stiller before January and continue to maintain an interest in the German international ahead of the summer. The Red Devils are planning a midfield revamp and could see Stiller as a good fit for their system.
Can Stuttgart demand more than Angelo Stiller’s release clause?
Liverpool are also in the market for a new midfielder and could see Stiller’s qualities suit their system well. The Reds may be able to invest the required sum in signing the Stuttgart star, which could see them — alongside Manchester United — lead the race ahead of Real Madrid, who were more keen on paying the €40 million release clause.
Stuttgart can remove the €40 million release clause with a €2 million payment to Stiller, as part of a clause in his agreement. Without the exit clause in place, the German side are eager to demand a fee between €60–65 million, which they feel better reflects the player’s value — although that figure may not prove to be a major obstacle for Real Madrid, Manchester United, or Liverpool.
