Arne Slot’s Liverpool could end up cashing in on Cody Gakpo, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister and Federico Chiesa this summer.
Liverpool did make some significant additions to their squad last summer, but things haven’t really worked out for them in the ongoing campaign. As a result, they are gearing up for another important transfer window, where they could end up offloading quite a few of their squad.
Mohamed Salah won’t be the only one leaving Anfield after the end of the season. According to a report from Fichajes, Liverpool could sell Cody Gakpo, Joe Gomez, Alexis Mac Allister and Federico Chiesa ahead of the new season. Their departures will give them significant funds to work with and improve their overall squad.
With Salah leaving, the Reds see this as an ideal opportunity to revamp their squad and renew the competitive edge. Gakpo, Gomez, Mac Allister and Chiesa have all been integral parts of their plans in recent years, but it seems the Merseyside club are now ready to move on from them.
Liverpool are ready to offload key players
Gomez’s future has been up in the air for some time, with his contract running out in a year, while Chiesa hasn’t had much game time of late. As a result, the duo’s departure won’t be that big a surprise. However, the same cannot be said about Gakpo and Mac Allister.
The Dutch forward has 12 goal contributions and has racked up close to 3,000 minutes in the ongoing campaign. Meanwhile, the Argentine midfielder has been ever-present in Arne Slot’s XI. He has over 3,200 minutes in his 46 appearances with 10 goal contributions.
Mac Allister has been one of their most important assets, but they are still ready to listen to offers for him. It is a massive boost for clubs like Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, who have been keeping tabs on him.
Meanwhile, Chiesa could secure a return to Italy, as his agents are already working on a potential transfer back home. His departure will make significant room on their wage bill. The Reds want a more dynamic forward, and Gakpo is expected to make way for him.
As far as Gomez is concerned, the Reds want a more reliable partner for Virgil van Dijk. Given the English international’s injury track record, cashing in on him seems to be the right move. The departure of all four could give them enough funds to reinforce a number of positions on the pitch.
